Monmouth Bets and Monmouth Park
Monmouth Park in Oceanport has raced on the Jersey Shore since 1870 and stages the Haskell Invitational for three-year-olds in late July. Darby Development runs the track under a lease from the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, and its chairman, Dennis Drazin, has described the 2024 online wagering deal as the first real choice for New Jersey bettors.
The online brand is run with BetMakers Technology Group, an Australian technology company. On the fixed odds side the account terms name BetMakers MTS, LLC and Darby Development, LLC as the licensees. Under a ten-year exclusive agreement with the New Jersey Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association and Darby Development, BetMakers holds the rights to fixed odds thoroughbred wagering in the state.
How fixed odds racing came to New Jersey
New Jersey’s legislature passed fixed odds racing unanimously in June 2021, making it the first state to allow the product. BetMakers opened a retail version at Monmouth Park windows in 2022, and the Division of Gaming Enforcement then approved an online app, which went live on May 13, 2023, the opening day of Monmouth’s 78th thoroughbred season.
The rest of the country still bets races only through pools, as the pari-mutuel guide explains. BetMakers cited its own survey at launch, in which 83 percent of horseplayers polled wanted fixed odds alongside the tote. Fixed odds wagers can be placed online or at Monmouth Park itself, and nowhere else in the state.
What a Monmouth Bets fixed odds ticket can be
Only three bet types exist on the Monmouth Bets fixed odds side: win, place and show. Show disappears when fewer than eight runners are entered, and place and show both disappear below five. Prices appear in decimal form, so a horse at 3-1 shows as 4.00, meaning every dollar staked returns four, including the stake itself.
Markets for many races open up to 24 hours before post. A bettor who wants in before the official market opens can take the Closing Price, the final fixed price offered when betting closes, but that figure is not locked and the payout is set only once the race is official. Winning bets usually settle within minutes.
Limits are tight compared with sports betting. Monmouth Park accepts a wager only if the potential win stays at or under $2,500 on a win bet and $1,000 on place or show. A scratch refunds the stake on that horse, the house rules allow deductions from other runners’ prices, and an abandoned race is refunded.
The tote site for other states
Bettors outside New Jersey are sent to a different product at tote.monmouthbets.com. It is a conventional advance-deposit wagering account, powered by eBet Technologies and Global Tote US, both part of BetMakers, where tickets go into normal pari-mutuel pools. Its app listing names the Oregon Racing Commission as regulator, and the site footer cites the New York State Gaming Commission.
The tote app lists twelve states: Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Kansas, Louisiana, New Hampshire, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Wisconsin and Wyoming. West Virginia and Michigan are not among them. It advertises free live streaming, free past performances and picks from Racelab, speed maps and no fees on deposits, and the price follows the pool as at any other ADW.
The Monmouth Bets app situation
The fixed odds app, published by Betmakers Technology Group, carries a Quick Form Guide with past performance stats, a Speed Map, live video of every race offered and live chat. In October 2026 it showed a 1.8 average from only five App Store ratings, with a last listed update in November 2023, so many players use the website.
Tote betting for residents of other states runs through the separate Global Tote US website. A rating built on five votes says little either way. Desktop players on the fixed odds site need the Xpoint location plug-in, while phones need Location Services, GPS and Wi-Fi switched on, and any VPN or remote desktop software blocks access.
Monmouth Bets review: where it fits in New Jersey
New Jersey residents have three online racing accounts. A new managing vendor has run the state’s account wagering system since July 1, 2026, 4NJBets continues on the TVG platform, and Monmouth Bets, the subject of this review, adds fixed odds. The New Jersey guide covers online casinos, and the online hub compares the three states.
Racinos appear on the Monmouth Bets fixed odds menu too. Delaware Park, which races from May to October beside its casino, and Canterbury Park in Minnesota were among the first tracks offered beyond Monmouth. Their seasons, and those of every other track with a gaming floor, appear on the horse racing schedule.
Accounts, limits and complaints
Sign-up asks for a legal name, date of birth, the last four digits of a Social Security number and a home address, which IDology checks automatically. Deposit, loss and daily time limits sit under Manage Your Account; lowering one is immediate, raising one takes seven days. Unresolved complaints can go to the Division of Gaming Enforcement afterwards.
