Who runs BetMGM Casino
BetMGM LLC was formed in 2018 as a joint venture between MGM Resorts International and GVC Holdings, the company now called Entain. Each partner owns half. MGM brings the casino brands, the resorts and the rewards program; Entain brings most of the betting and gaming technology. The company’s US base is in Jersey City, New Jersey.

BetMGM Casino licenses by state
Online casinos in the United States cannot operate on their own license alone. Each state ties the product to a land-based casino, and the brand works as that casino’s online partner. BetMGM therefore sits under three different hosts, and its account, wallet and terms change at every state line, even though the app looks the same.

West Virginia is where the brand sits closest to racing. BetMGM took one of three places on The Greenbrier’s license, a resort rather than a track, while the state’s racetrack casinos, such as Hollywood Casino at Charles Town, host most of the other national brands. The Lottery Commission oversees every one of those licenses.
West Virginia went live in late August 2020, with BetMGM taking the second of three places on The Greenbrier’s license and becoming the state’s second online casino after DraftKings.
